TRS threatens defamation case against Cong leader
Hyderabad, Oct 6 (UNI) Taking strong exception to Andhra Pradesh Sports Minister and Senior Congress Leader from Telangana M Satyanarayana Rao reportedly raking up alleged 'criminal antecedents' of TRS Chief K Chandrasekara Rao, TRS leaders today threatened to file a defamation case against the septuagenarian leader.
Challenging the Minister to resign his Karimnagar Assembly seat and seek re-election, Former Ministers N Narasimha Reddy and A Chandrasekar told a press conference here ''if he resigns, we will field an ordinary party activist and defeat him at the hustings.'' ''Our leader has won the Assembly elections six times and the Lok Sabha election once. If there is any proof, the government is free to take legal action.
It is better if the Congress stops indulging in character assassination in a bid to gain political mileage from the bye-election,'' they said.
It was the TRS chief who had spent money and ensured the election of Mr Satyanarayana from Karimnagar Assembly constituency, part of the Lok Sabha seat, they claimed.
Objecting to PCC President K Keshava Rao's claim that the TRS was no match for the Congress, they said ''people will teach a fitting lesson to the Congress in the bye-poll.'' UNI SM GM 1736
