Tourist arrivals and earnings go up in September
New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) An increase of 9.3 per cent has been registered in the arrival of foreign tourists and 11 per cent in foreign exchange earnings in September this year.
As many as 276,118 tourists have visited the country this month as against 252,625 last year.
Tourism Ministry sources said here today that the first nine months of the current year recorded a growth of 13.1 per cent in the foreign tourist arrival as against 15.3 per cent last year.
During January-September this year, 3,061,446 foreign tourists visited the country as against 2,706,977 during the corresponding period last year. A maximum growth of 24.7 per cent was recorded in April.
The foreign exchange earnings went up by 15.6 per cent during January-September this year with a total of Rs 20,042 crore.
