Tata to invest Rs 25 crore to expand services in HP
Shimla, Oct 6 (UNI) Tata Indicom today announced Rs 25 crore investment in Himachal Pradesh during this financial year to extend its services in 10 districts and cover 15 per cent population of the state.
Addressing a press conference here, company's state Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sandeep Srivastava said the Tata Teleservices (TTSL) plans to cover about 80 to 100 semi-urban and rural segments with significant presence in 10 districts of the state during this year.
The TTSL is a part of the Rs 76,929 crore Tata group, which has over 90 companies, 2.20 lakh employees and more than 2.8 million shareholders and having a formidable presence in the telecom sector with an investment of Rs 36,000 crore.
Mr Srivastava said the company would invest a sum of Rs 25 crore during the year as part of its expansion plans for the state besides increasing the total number of cell sites to 80 from 60 at present.
By the end of this year, TTSL would be covering 15 per cent of the total population of the state as against nine per cent at present, he said.
He said the company would also open about 20 to 25 Tata Indicom Shops in the circle soon to facilitate people opting for the Tata Indicom services.
''We will focus on the rural and semi-urban segments to address the basic telephony requirements and offer innovative products and efficient service to the customers,'' he said.
