Shramjivi Express blast case hearing posted to Oct 11

Jaunpur, Oct 6 (UNI) A local court today posted the next hearing of the Patna-New Delhi Shramjivi Express bomb blast case to October 11.

The blast on July 28, 2005 near Singramau railway station here had killed 14 passengers and wounded 90 others.

Earlier, the accused Obaid-ur-Rehman, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul were produced before additional district and sessions judge (III) Rajendra Chandra under tight security, who remanded them in judicial custody till October 11.

Meanwhile, the statement of Rajendra Kumar Yadav was recorded, but another witness Ram Balam Sahni failed to appear for the same.

The judge has summoned a witness, Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal of Nalanda district in Bihar, on the next date of hearing for his statement.

On July 24, the court had fixed charges under sections 148, 307, 302 and 120 B, of the IPC Explosive Substance Act section 3/4, Railway Act's section 150, 151 and section 14 of the Foreigners Act Two other accused Mohd Sharif alias Sirajuddin of Bangladesh and Mohd Roni are absconding, while Dr Sayeed was yet to be traced.

Another accused Ghulam Rajdani alias Pahiya was eliminated in a police encounter.

In May, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul were brought from Cherallapalli Central Jail, Andhra Pradesh under a warrant, while Obaid-ur-Rehman, a Bangladeshi, was brought here from Murshidabad, West Bengal.
