Rane pleads for full-fledged TV relay station for Goa

Panaji, Oct 6 (UNI) Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane here today pleaded the setting up of a full-fledged TV station in Goa to further promote the rich cultural heritage of the island state in perspective.

Inaugurating the three-day All India Doordarshan Kendras directors's Hindi Conference at Savoi-Verem spice farm in Ponda taluk today, Mr Rane said he would seek clearance of the proposal by visiting Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priyaranjan Dasmunsi soon.

The Kendra would not only help promote quality programmes but expose the local artistic talent to the world, he added.

He also favoured broadcasting of regional news bulletins from the proposed Kendra to educate the masses on various government schemes.

Prominent among those present included deputy director general of Doordarshan Mr Surya Prakash and local station director Chandrakant Bharve besides director of Official Language Mr S Damay Singh.
