Rajasthan Agri Marketing Board and APEDA sign MoU

Jaipur, Oct 6 (UNI) In a major development in the field of agriculture export promotion Rajasthan State Agriculture Marketing Board (RSAMB) and the Agriculture and Procesed Food Expert Development Authority (APEDA) have signed an MoU for the construction of a two state-of-the-art Pack Houses in Jaipur.

The total cost of the two pack houses proposed to be set up at Terminal Market and Chomu have been estimated at 6.89 crore.

According to the MoU signed between the administrator of RSAMB Vipin Chandra Sharma and the chairman of the APEDA, K S Money, APEDA, a central agency for the promotion of agri-export would contribute 75 per cent of the cost of the construction of the Pack House while the rest 25 per cent by the Board.

The Pack House equipped with multi-cooling chamber would have facilites for the grading of the fruits and vegitables after cleaning, packing, cooling, hydro cooling for the preservation of the vegitables and fruits according to the international quality standards.

Speaking after signing the MoU Vipin Chandra Sharma said the Pack House would be ready within six months. He said with the coming up of the Pack Houses the fruit export from Rajasthan to the south east Asian countires and Gulf nation would register a ten fold increase.

Speaking on the occassion APEDA chairman K S Money said Indian agriculture has the capability to be the most competitive in the world given some important quality control measures were taken. He said ''the need of the hour was forward and backward integration in agriculture with farmers were provided with the rights inputs and development of infrastructure for the preservation and marketing of the produce''.
