Paddy arrivals slow in Haryana as compared to Punjab
Chandigarh , Oct 6 (UNI) The arrival of paddy in Haryana has been comparatively very slow as compared to Punjab where 27.40 lakh metric tonnes of the crop had arrived in the 'mandis' till yesterday, out of the total arrival of 35.88 lakh tonnes in the two agrarian states.
According to officals figures, just 8.48 lakh tonnes of paddy had arrived in the grain markets of Haryana till yesterday.
Punjab Food and Supplies Minister Lal Singh, said that of the total arrivals in the state, so far 67,457 tonnes was procured by Pungrain, 47,513 tonnes by Markfed, 68,383 tonnes by Punsup, 33,456 tonnes by Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, 32,165 tonnes by Punjab Agri Food Corporation, 10,432 tonnes by FCI and 64,278 metric tonnes by the private millers.
Regarding Haryana, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan, who also holds the Food and Supplies portfolio said that out of total paddy arrivals in the mandis, 6.54 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had been purchased by the six government procuring agencies at the Minimum Support Price of Rs 610 per quintal, besides a bonus of Rs 40 per quintal.
He said that the remaining 1.93 lakh metric tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders, which includes 1.11 lakh metric tonnes leviable and 82,134 metric tonnes non-leviable paddy.
Mr Chander Mohan said that Hafed had procured 2.79 lakh metric tonnes of paddy followed by Food and Supplies Department with 2.22 lakh metric tonnes, Confed 44,738 metric tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation 80,682 metric tonnes and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 23,559 metric tonnes and Food Corporation of India 3,547 metric tonnes.
He said that district Kurukshetra was still leading in the arrival of paddy with 2.34 lakh metric tonnes followed by Karnal with 1.99 lakh metric tonnes. Fatehabad district had procured 1.44 lakh metric tonnes and Kaithal 1.21 lakh metric tonnes of paddy.
