Only BJP can realise Telangana: Rao

Hyderabad, Oct 6: Accusing the Congress party and the TRS of 'cheating' the people over the Telangana issue, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Union Minister of State for Home Ch Vidyasagar Rao today maintained that only the BJP could realise the demand.

Talking to newspersons here he said Defence Minister and Chairman of UPA Telangana sub-committee on Pranab Mukherjee initially apportioned the blame on the BJP.

However Mr Rao alleged that, however, when the BJP National Executive adopted a resolution for its creation and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani declared the BJP's support, if the UPA Government introduced a bill in this regard, the Congress did a somersault, stating the party was for constitution of Second States Reorganisation Commission.

Mr Rao, whose candidature for the bypoll had been proposed by the state BJPm said that if the TRS was sincere in achieving Telangana, it was morally-bound to support the BJP.

Encashing on the Telangana sentiment, the Congress had won the last Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections by aligning with the TRS, he claimed, adding that in none of the election meeting the Congress had stated that it was for constitution of the Second SRC.

With both the Left parties, on whose crucial support the UPA Government survived, stoutly oppose the second SRC, the Congress was not not in a position to forming it either, he claimed.
