Notorious criminal shot dead in encounter

Bagaha, Oct 6 (UNI) A dreaded dacoit operating internationally was killed in an enounter with police in Baghi-Sakhuani forest under Gobardhana police station of West Champaran district today.

Police Superintendent Baldeo Prasad said here that police rescued an abducted trader from the clutches of the dacoit, carrying cash award of Rs one lakh on his head.

The dacoit had kidnapped the trader from Auraia forest when he was returning from Gobardhana police station to Ramnagar last night. The trader was abducted for ransom.

Later, police surrounded the entire forest area after which the encounter took place.

He said a huge cache of firearms was recovered from the possession of the deceased.
