No dengue death in MP: govt

Bhopal, Oct 6 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today claimed that there was neither any information about any dengue fatality in the state nor any such patient but the administration has initiated a special campaign under a anti-dengue action plan in all 48 districts.

''In view of people travelling to and fro from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, an apprehension of dengue cannot be denied in Madhya Pradesh. The government has requisitioned 1,000 dengue rapid-testing kits that are likely to reach here from Goa tomorrow,'' Commissioner (Health) Rajesh Rajora told UNI here.

Besides, the department cancelled leave until November 6 and control rooms were functioning at every district headquarters. The local control room's numbers are 0755-2552538 (telephone) and 0755-2573984 (fax).

''No authorised or recognised laboratory is yet to confirm either a dengue death or any sufferer. I appeal to the public to cooperate towards dengue control as the aedes aegypti mosquito is found in homes. Special teams have been formed at state and district headquarters levels for destroying mosquitoes and larvae,'' the bureaucrat said.

A local privately-run hospital's Director P K Pande said that two patients suffering from fever were admitted last month. K S Thakur died while the other was cured. ''Blood samples were sent to Delhi and tested positive for dengue,'' he claimed.
