NGRI scientist elected IETE President
Hyderabad, Oct 6 (UNI) Mr S Narayana, an eminent electronics and communications engineer of high repute and Head of Instrumentation Division of National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) has been elected as the President of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) for the year 2006-07.
With its headquaters in New Delhi, IETE is a leading professional society devoted to the advancement of Electronics, Telecommunications, Information Technology and other related disciplines and serves more than 53,000 members both individuals and industrial organizations through its 52 centres spread all over India including one abroad.
Mr Narayana obtained Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Osmania University in 1972 and M Tech from JNTU.
Starting his carrer in DRDO, he moved to NGRI in 1976 and for the last three decades was engaged in the design and development of variety of geophysical Instruments using the technology for the investigation of ground water, minerals and engineering studies.
He had been serving IETE for more than three decades and was responsible for significant growth of Hyderabad Centre of IETE.
He was the chairman of Hyderabad Centre for two terms.
The Hyderabad Centre was adjudged as the ''Best Centre'' in the Country twice during his tenure as chairman.
Serving IETE Council for the last decade and held various important positions and contributed much for the growth of students and centres.
Mr Narayana is the recipient of number of ''honours and awards'', which include the ''Engineer of the Year Award-2000'', Best Invention Award, 2000, Best Scientist-Engneer, 2002, IETE Gold Medal, 2004 for his outstanding constribution in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, a NGRI release here said today.
