NDA regime of Nitish is similar to Lalu-Rabri rule:Tariq

Patna, Oct 6 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today said that the NDA rule of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is similar to the previous dispensation of Lalu-Rabri.

''People have found no change in the situation and are reeling under the same crisis,'' NCP national General Secretary Tariq Anwar told mediapersons here.

''Mr Kumar has failed to keep the promises he had made before and after coming to power. The people were frustrated with his 'failures' as they had voted him to power with great expectation,'' Mr Anwar said, adding the situation was more or less similar to that of the Lalu-Rabri regime.

Referring to a few incidents that had rocked the state recently saying that killings of four Dalits in Ara, the rape of Dalit women in Lakhisarai and of a minority woman at Khijarsarai in Gaya district and death of a minority woman following attack by the JD(U) MLA in Chapra were 'open testimony' to the law and order situation, he said Mr Kumar's promises regarding law and order were an ''eyewash,'' adding that the so-called sushan was a distant dream.

The electricity scenario was poor and roads, specially most National Highways, were in a shambles. There was no sign of development in any field even after the rainy season, the NCP leader added.

To a query, he said the party had not taken any decision for contesting the by-polls for Bhagalpur Lok Sabha seat. However, he opined that the UPA should hold dialogue with the alliance partners for fielding a candidate. He said as per the last Lok Sabha elections this seat belonged to the Left, but even if the Congress was interested, it should take the alliance partners in confidence.
