MLA urges admin to help BPL people with chikungunya
Puducherry, Oct 6 (UNI) AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan MLA today urged the administration to provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to Below Poverty Line (BPL) people affected by Chikungunya in the Union Territory.
Talking to newspersons here today, Mr Anbazhagan said with the bread-winners of several BPL families here down with the disease, the families were finding it difficult to pull on.
When several people in the north had died of chikungunya and dengue, while the toll in Tamil Nadu and Kerala had reached over 200 and 73 respectively, Union Minister Anbumani Ramdoss was concentrating only on making JIPMER autonomous and had given wrong information that nobody was affected by chikungunya in Tamil Nadu, Mr Anbazhagan alleged.
He said Chikungunya was fast spreading in the Union Territory and demanded that Dr Ramdoss should concentre on ways and means to contain the deadly disease.
