Missing cashbooks: Police hopeful of breakthrough
Bhopal, Oct 6 (UNI) The police are hopeful of a quick breakthrough in the intensive investigation underway into the theft of more than a dozen cashbooks, containing records of about Rs 20 crore, from the Madhya Pradesh government's protocol office at the local Vallabh Bhavan.
''Vital clues were obtained during questioning of several employees over the past couple of days. However, they cannot be disclosed as the probe will be compromised,'' Inspector-General (Bhopal Range) Sanjeev Kumar Singh told journalists here.
The cashbooks, containing records from 2000 to 2006, went missing while auditing was in progress. An administrative inquiry was also ordered. Assistant Protocol Officer Rajesh Gupta lodged a complaint at Jehangirabad Police Station.
