Martyr's widow appeals to President not to pardon Afzal
Sikar, Oct 6 (UNI) Premi Devi, widow of O P Yadav, who lost his life fighting terrorists in the attack on Parliament, today sent a memorandum to President A P J Abdul Kalam asking him not to grant pardon to Mohammad Afzal Guru, one of the mastermind behind the attack.
Kanhaiyalal Yadav, the martyr's father said the mercy petition of Afzal's family should not be accepted as this will encourage anti-national elements.
He said the terrorists who do not think twice before hurting innocent people, ''escape punishment due to petty politics''.
Meanwhile, Rashtrawadi Nagarik Manch, a youth organisation handed over a memorandum, addressed to the President, to Governor Pratibha Patil in Jaipur today, appealing him not to grant clemency to Afzal.
When the Pakistani government has not agreed to pardon an innocent Sikh youth, so why should India show leniency towards Afzal, they argued referring to Sarabjit Singh serving death row in Pakistan.
