Justice (retd.) Amar Dutt takes oath as Chief Vigilance Commissioner
Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) Justice (Retd.) Amar Dutt today took oath as Chief Vigilance Commissioner of Punjab.
He was administered the oath of office by Punjab Governor, General (Retd) S F Rodrigues at a brief but impressive ceremony in the Banquet Hall of the state Raj Bhavan here.
Among those present on the occasion were Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Ministers, Legislators and senior civil and police officers. Ms Jean Rodrigues, the wife of the Governor, and family members, friends and well-wishers also attended the ceremony.
An alumnus of the Doon School, justice dutt joined Superior udicial Service in 1983. He served as Additional District and Session Judge at Ludhiana, Amritsar, Ferozepur and Patiala and then as District and Sessions Judge at Amritsar, Chandigarh and Roopnagar.
He was elevated to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 1999, and retired from there on august 23, 2006.
Before joining the superior Judicial Service, Justice Amar Dutt had also practised in the High Court from 1968 to 1983.
