Jaimala threatens legal action against 3 persons

Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) Kannada actor Jaimala, mired in a controversy over having entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala in Kerala in 1987, today claimed that she had been made a 'scapegoat' in a conspiracy by vested interests and threatened to initiate legal action against three people, including Kerala Devaswom Minister G Sudhakaran.

Speaking to newspersons here for the first time after the controversy surfaced, she said the other two were Mr R Ramchandran Nair, Superintendent of Police, CBCID, Kottayam, and Tantri Unnikrishnan Panicker. She also released a set of documents pertaining to the controversy, which included correspondence with Mr Nair, a copy of her apology letter addressed to Mr Panicker and a letter addressed to Mr Sudhakaran.

The controversy arose when Jaimala had written a letter to Mr Panicker, seeking apology for entering the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, which barred entry to women between five and 50 years, along with her ailing husband. She had claimed that she was pushed in by the surging crowd and had touched the feet of the Lord with reverence.

The 'revelation' stirred up a hornet's nest with many dismissing it as a figment of imagination and others questioning the traditions of the famed hill shrine.
