India, France to sign agreement to avoid double taxation
New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) India and France will sign an agreement early next year to eliminate double taxation on the wages of Indians working in France.
A draft agreement was handed over to French Family Affairs Minister Philippe Bas today by Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi, who is currently on a visit to France.
The double taxation is under the existing European Union laws, the Ministry said in a release here.
According to Ministry officials, the draft agreement has been ''generally accepted'' by the French government. Delegation-level talks will be hed between the two countries on the agreement in January next year, they said.
Mr Ravi, who visited the French educational institution Maison de l'Inde in Paris, which has a large number of Indian students, participated in a reception in his honour by the Indian Professional Association, the Ministry said.
