First International Corporate Value Index 2006 released
Kolkata, Oct 6 (UNI) Customer satisfaction, closely followed by quality control, integrity, concern for environment and safety are the top five 'Corporate values' being followed by more than 3200 successful companies around the world, a recent global study among most secured companies in 12 countries has revealed.
The study, called the first International Corporate Values Index- 2006, was conduced late last month by the London based ECCO, a global network of independently owned and operated marketing and communicating consutants.
The study, done through more than 16,000 different expressions of corporate values being followed by 3276 companies in 12 countries across the globe, had found wide and interesting results in terms of diverse corporate values universally followed by the international corporate world.
Elaborating on the nearly four-month long study Dr Niren Suchanti, Chairman and CEO of Pressman PR, the lone ECCO member in India here today informed that the survey had also identified ten most preferred corporate values being followed internationally as well as in each of the 12 countries.
The countries where the studies were conducted are as diverse as Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Poland, U.K. and the USA by more than 500 ECCO members, Dr Suchanti informed and added that in India alone Chief executives from as many as 301 companies representing 14 diverse sectors were interviewed during the four-month long exercise.
Referring to the nitty gritty of the study, he said 47 per cent of the companies surveyed ranked customer satisfaction as top of their agenda in terms of corporate values followed by 41 per cent in quality control, 40 per cent in integrity, 24 per cent in environment and 22 per cent in safety aspects.
These apart, he said team spirit comprised 20 per cent, company's performance and sucess 14 per cent each, know how 13 per cent and Corporate Social responsibility to a minimum 11 per cent.
In terms of the segregation of values in eight different categories including the values of skills, winning, behaviour, relational, moral, community, self-fulfilment and social, Dr Suchanti said skill values secured the top spot with 59 per cent of global companies and 45 per cent of their Indian counterparts opting for that. It was followed by behavioural values, relational values, community values and moral values in that order and securing between 23 percentage point and barely two perentage points respectively.
Asked about the utility and future of such global studies apart from having a clear idea about the work ethics of major companies and successful multinationals and public sector units both in India and across the globe, Dr Suchanti claimed it would also work as the basic guideline of smaller and newly formed companies for their future success.
Both national and state government could also formulate their future industrial policies on the basis of data bank being supplied by the global corporate index, Dr Suchanti felt replying to another query.
