FIDE mishandled 'bathroom break' controversy: Vishy Anand
Chennai, Oct 6 (UNI)Grand Master 'Vishy' Anand today said FIDE has mishandled the 'bathroom break' controversy involving GM Topalov in the world championship match against Kramnik.
In a brief interaction with the media after discharging the role of AIDS Ambassador of India for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on HIV/AIDS education awareness among school children at the Avvai Home School here, Anand said the whole controversy was unnecessary.
He opined that FIDE should not have taken the complaint made by Kramnik that Topalov was resorting to unfair means during the 'bathroom break.' However, he declined to comment further and answer any more questions on the sport, after reiterating that he would not probably be playing for the Indian team in the Doha Asian Games later this year.
''Yes, probably I will not play in the Asian Games'', the Chennai GM said and brushed aside any other query on chess saying ''Keep all questions to AIDS.'' Anand is also scheduled to don the Brand Amabassador role again on October 8 when he would be taking on 40 people simultaneously in a chess match, to raise funds for 'Vidyasagar' an NGO working for the welfare of the differently abled people(Spastics).
