DGP directed to obtain probe status of different scams
Allahabad, Oct 6 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today directed the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) to obtain information from police stations and the office of government counsel about the status of criminal cases in different scams.
Further, the bench directed the DGP to get clubbed all kind of cases relating to scams in UP and get their investigations concluded expeditiously within a fixed time frame.
A bench comprising Justices Imtiyaz Murtaza and Amar Saran passed this order on a writ petition filed by Kamlesh and others, seeking stay of their arrest on basis of an FIR lodged against them at the Kotwali police station, Azamgarh for involvement in scholarships scam.
The bench declined to stay their arrest saying if granted, it will give a negative social message and lead to erosion of the faith of the general public in the country is judicial and democratic system.
Fixing the case for hearing on December 7, the court directed the investigating officer to positively conclude the probe of the case within two months. It also directed him to be personally present in the court alongwith the case diary.
Taking serious note that in spite of the HC order, investigations in criminal cases have not been concluded, the bench directed the DGP to submit a status report of the progress of investigation in all cases in different police stations in UP.
The DGP has also been directed to issue directions to all the SSPs and SPs to get probes concluded in all cases, in which writ petitions have been filed and still pending in the HC or have been disposed of within a fixed time frame.
