Chikungunya toll touches 13 in Bhind district

Bhind, MP, Oct 6 (UNI) Chikungunya death toll in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh has touched 13 with three more people dying of the disease in the past 24 hours, health officials said today.

Lakshman Singh (25) died while undergoing treatment in district hospital, while Lakshman Singh Narvaria (30) and Satish Sharma (22) succumbed to the vector-borne disease while being taken to Gwalior for treatment.

Sources said the disease claimed 13 lives in the past 10 days, while several villagers were suffering from the ailment.

According to sources, a health department official has died but denied that he succumbed to Chikungunya.

Medical teams had been dispatched to affected areas.
