Chidambaram to campaign for local body polls

Chennai, Oct 6 (UNI) Union Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram will undertake a five-day campaign for the local body elections in Tamil Nadu from tomorrow.

Mr Chidambaram would visit nine districts in the state, seeking votes for the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in the civic polls scheduled for October 13 and 15.

According to the programme released by the Minister's media coordinator V Thirunavukarasu, Mr Chidambaram would kickstart his campaign tomorrow by addressing public meetings at Villivakkam and Ennore here and visiting Tiruchirapalli district the next day.

On October nine and ten, the Finance Minister would campaign in Ilayankudi, Manamadurai, Tirupuvanam and Sivaganga unions and visit Kancheepuram district on October 11.

He would wind up his five-day campaign by going to Coimbatore, Erode and Salem districts on October 11, as per the programme said.
