The new channel adds up to a deluge of FM channels coming into this city, taking the total number to eight. One more major player is lined up to go on air later this month.
Already launched in cities like Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai, the channel would next make its foray into Mumbai and Kolkata.
''With the launch of Big 92.7 FM, we aim to present innovative radio programming. We not only offer fresh and unique content, but also have roped in personalities who will connect with the listeners and provide glamour quotient,'' channel Chief Operating Officer Tarun Katial said.
He said Big 92.7 FM would span out to 1,000 towns and 50,000 villages to reach 200 million people across the country. The company planned to take FM radio as a medium of entertainment to key metros and virgin markets that had never before experienced this medium.
''The station promises not only to entertain, but also to inform and empower the listener with utilities. Apart from utilities, the station has a stunning array of Radio Jockeys who will be the voice and personality of the channel,'' Mr Katial said.
To ensure high aspiration and connect with listeners, the channel had signed up with actor Upendra as brand ambassador for Bangalore station. Apart from Upendra, Bangaloreans could listen and interact with noted comedian Sihi Kahi Chandru and mimicry artist Dayanand, apart from well known television and cinema actors as RJs.
