Amarinder greets people on Valmiki Jayanti

Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today extended his greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and exhorted them to follow his teachings and ideology to carve out an ideal society regardless of caste, colour and creed.

In his message on the occasion, Capt Singh said that Maharishi Valmiki Ji was a great exponent and forefather of Indian culture and civilisation, the author of the holy 'Ramayana' and first great spiritual treatise Yoga Vasistha, an immemorial poet, and a great visionary.

His masterpiece 'Ramayana' is a fountainhead of human culture, reservoir of wisdom and storehouse of all conceivable human values.

Maharishi Valmiki Ji propagated the message of ideal life based on Dharma and the Ramayana is replete with examples of ideals in human relationships, he said.

Capt Singh called upon the people of the State to celebrate the occasion in unison and rising above the materialistic values thereby paving way for altruism in human life as preached by the Maharishi.
