Afzal should get punishment:Digvijay Singh

Patna Oct 6 (UNI) All India Congress Committee General Secretary Digvijay Singh today said Afzal, terrorist involved in Parliament attacks, deserves the punishment awarded to him by the court.

Mr Singh told newsmen here the punishment had been awarded as per the law and said Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had neither given any statement in written to the centre or to the party leadership to consider Afzal case.

Meanwhile, Mr Singh, who is also incharge of the political affairs of Congress in Bihar, alleged that Nitish government was not taking any action against its own party MLAs involved in vandalism and other serious crimes.

He also threatened to launch mass agitation in case the JD(U) MLA from Chapra Rampravesh Rai was not arrested by October 15 in connection with the death of a minority woman.

He alleged that Nitish Government was misleading minorities by instituting fresh probe into the Bhagalpur riots saying the commission had been constituted to get the political mileage.

The NDA government was also discriminating in giving compensation to the people in Nalnda district whose land had been acquired for setting up Power grid.
