30 more cases in Capital ; J'khand, Uttaranchal confirm case
New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Thirty more dengue-infected people were admitted to AIIMS here till this morning while Uttaranchal and Jharkhand confirmed their first cases.
The death toll in the capital stood at 17 with 43 fatalities nationwide.
Uttaranchal confirmed its first dengue case. Nona Khan (37) a resident of Bhagwanpur, Haridwar was admitted in City Heart Centre, a private hospital in Dehra Dun last night. Dr Rakesh Mittal of the hospital confirmed that she tested dengue positive.
Jharkhand also confirmed its first dengue case with a five-year-old girl suffering from the disease.
Ms Prachi, was rushed to the state capital Ranchi on September 26 and the doctor attending to her sent her blood sample for test to Mumbai where she was diagonsed with dengue.
According to reports, her condition is stable now.
With detection of the disease, the authorities immediately constituted a group of doctors with to monitor dengue related cases in the area.
An alert was sounded in Jharkhand.
Fifty cases were reported in Haryana.In Chandigarh, fourteen new cases of suspected dengue fever were reported at the PGIMER earlier in the day.
Out of 14 patients, (13 adults and 1 child), five have come from Uttar Pradesh, five are from Haryana and two each from Punjab and Union Territory of Chandigarh, a PGI press release stated.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi today visited two hospitals in the capital to see the facilities provided to the people affected with dengue.
