20,000 litres of liquor seized, 5 arrested
Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) A special squad of the Excise department has seized 20,000 litres of liquor, worth Rs 16 lakh, from two lorries and arrested five people, including four from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, in this connection here today.
Excise Assistant Commissioner M R Gaddi, in a release here, said 10,000 litres of liquor, packed in 300 plastic cans, were seized from a lorry near Jalahalli post office on the outskirts of the city. An equal quantity of liquor was later seized from another lorry near Avalahalli on the city outskirts.
Rajendran, Devan, Shakthivelu, Vishu (all hailing from Tamil Nadu) and kingpin Tippeswamy were arrested on the charge of transporting liquor without valid permit.
