11 Railway personnel killed in NC Hills
Guwahati, Oct 6 (UNI) At least 11 North Eastern Frontier (NF) Railway personnel were shot dead today by suspected Dimasa militants near Hatikhuli in NC Hills district.
Official sources here said the team comprising six Railway police force personnel and others belonging to the engineering and construction company went there to supervise the ongoing work when militans groups opened fire at them.
The actual spot was about 11 km from Lumding, the divisional headquarters of the NF railway station.
Police suspected that it was the handiwork of the Black Widow group, opposing the ceasefire and peace process undertaken by the parent DHD militants.
Two of the railway personnel were still missing and six injured had been admitted to Lumding civil hospital.
The Black Widow had been operating in the area for some time and specifically targeting the railway installations.
Details are awaited.
