Vasan lauds use of MPLAD
Bhopal, Oct 5 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Planning, Statistics and Programme Implementation G K Vasan has lauded utilisation of funds under Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme in Madhya Pradesh saying it was above national average and the state stood 11th in the country in this regard.
Reviewing the utilisation of MPLAD fund here yesterday, Mr Vasan said since the inception of the scheme in 1993, the state received Rs 823.04 crore while works costing Rs 819.94 crore had been sanctioned and Rs 777.13 crore utilised till date.
A total of 61,287 works had been sanctioned and 57,736 works--92.5 per cent-- completed. Of the 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, budget utilisation was 92 to 100 per cent in 27 constituencies and it was 90 per cent in remaining 2.
Finance Minister Raghavji and senior officials were present.
