US Iran sanctions bill will hamper talks Russia
MOSCOW, Oct 5 (Reuters) A proposed US measure to impose sanctions on foreign firms doing business in Iran will complicate international moves to curb Iran's nuclear programme, local media quoted Russia's foreign minister as saying.
''The unilateral US law on sanctions will complicate the joint work,'' of the six powers trying to persaude Tehran to halt uranium enrichment work, Russian news agencies quoted Sergei Lavrov as saying today.
The bill is progressing through the US House of Representatives.
The US State Department has warned the measure could create tensions with countries helping Washington deal with Iran.
''We agreed that we will do everything together, including analysing the situation and drawing up measures for influencing (Iran). But it turned out the way it turned out. We'll see what we can do in this situation,'' said Lavrov.
