Two youths get 10 yrs in jail for raping minor
Kaithal, Oct 5 (UNI) A local court has sentenced two youths to 10 years' imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 2000 on each after holding them guilty of raping a minor six years ago but acquitted a third accused, giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Giving details of the case, SSP Navdeep Singh Virk told mediapersons that the mother of the victim, a class VIth student of Batta village, had lodged a complaint with the police that her daughter did not return from school and someone had told her that Anil Kumar of the same village and two others had taken the girl in a car.
The police registered a case under section 363 and 366 IPC and added section 376 of the IPC later, when after the arrest of Anil Kumar, Vijender and Balwinder Singh, the girl was recovered and her medical examination revealed that she was sexually assaulted.
The victim was handed over to her parents after her statement was recorded in the local court.
Additional sessions Judge Subhash Goel held Anil and Vijender guilty of rape and acquitted Balwinder Singh, the driver of the car, due to lack of evidence against him.
