Two persons covicted life imprisonment in a murder case
Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) A local court today awarded two persons rigorous life imprisonment, after convicting them in a murder case registered against them during 2004 under Goregaon police station.
Additional Sessions Judge S B Gaikwad, finding accused Kanhaiylal Ramdeo Kanojya and Sarvrali Hasanali Shah guilty under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, awarded them life imprisoment and slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 to them.
According to prosecution, the victim Umashankar Yadav and the accused were known to each other and were residents of the same locality under Goregaon police station. On July 25, 2004, both the accused went to the house of the deceased as they alleged that he had committed a theft of Rs 5,000 from their house.
After having a quarrel over the issue, the trio left the house in the night but the victim did not return home.
Police had recovered the body of the victim next morning from Hickson and Dadaji Compound.
In all, nine witnesses were examined including the close relatives of the deceased person.
