Two more die of suspected Chikungunya
Alappuzha, Oct 5 (UNI) Two more suspected Chikungunya deaths were reported from the Cherthala taluk here today, taking the toll to 82.
Pankajakshy (70) and Xavier Joseph (58) died of the suspected fever.
Earlier, five suspected Chikungunya deaths were reported from the area.
Vijaya (58), of ward 20 in the municipality, Raman (75) of Pattavakadu, Raghavan (80) of Naneermukkom, Vishwambharan (60) and Murali (35) from Theravoor panchayat died due to fever.
All were suffering from fever and other associated symptoms of Chikungunya.
Meanwhile, 24 cases of Chikungunya have been confirmed in the Cherthala government hospital, according to health officials.
Out of the total OF 64 samples, 24 were tested positive for Chikungunya and two for Dengue fever, they added.
A report from Palakkad said that with the death of a67-year-old women, the total death with the suspectved viral fever rose to three.
District Medical Officer said that 81 patients admitted in various hospitals with the symptem of Chikungunya.
