Ten-year plan to develop health sector in Tripura

Agartala, Oct 05 (UNI) Tripura government decided to adopt a ten-year plan to fully equip the health sector in the state.

A decision to this effect was reached at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar held recently.

According to official sources today, the meeting decided to prepare a draft resolution in the field of expansion of health services and health department will submit its report by October 31 to pave way for taking up a ten-year plan.

The state government's aim was expansion of health services at the village level. The matter of setting up of sub-centre in each village panchayat will be given importance in the ten-year plan draft. At present there are 550 sub-centres existed throughout the state.

The state government's objective was to increase the number to 1040 in in all the ADC village committees and gram panchayats besides improvement of all the hospitals beginning from primary health centres to district and state hospitals.

The state government was planning to open another 500 beded general hospital in the capital city. There were plans to set up a dental and nursing college also.

The health department has asked all to submit its detailed project report by October 15 for this purpose. A six-member Cabinet Sub-Committee has already been constituted in this regard. The chairman of the sub-committe is Information, cultural and tourism Minister Anil Sarkar.
