Sri Lanka warm up with 84 run victory over PCA

Chandigarh, Oct 5 (UNI) Sri Lanka warmed up for their Champions Trophy campaingn with a 84-run victory over Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) President's XI in their practice match at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium here today.

The islanders set a big target of 268 for victory, PCA could make only 183 for 7 in 50 overs.

PCA skipper Pankaj Dharmani top scored with 56 runs which included four fours and two sixes. He Dharmani was caught by Vaas of the bowling of Dilshan. Dharmani's wicket fell at 170 and he was the last batsman to get out before the draw of stumps.

Bipul Sharma and Amit Uniyal remained not out on 22 and 8, respectively.

Earlier, opener Ravneet Ricky compiled 36 runs before Perera (2 for 31) had him caught by Jayasuriya.

Sri Lanka used as many as seven bowlers with a view to providing them practice before their match against Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy qualification round to be played on October 7 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Maharoof was declared man of the match for his unbeaten knock of 81 runs.

Sri Lanka made 267 for 8 in 50 overs. Their innings was bolstered by F Maharoof (81 not out) and Chamunda Vaas (48) as the pair was associated in a 90-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
