Six-member team visits Steel Plant
Visakhapatnam, Oct 5 (UNI) A six-member Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) team led by M S Balasubramanian, a senior Assessor from Chennai, today began a four-day visit to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) to assess its credentials for the CII-Exim Bank award for business excellence for the year-2006.
Plant Personnel Director K A Naidu welcomed the team and briefed them on the history of VSP and its dramatic turnaround.
He appraised the team about the VSP's future expansion plans and said that the Plant's capacity would go up to 16 million tonne by 2016.
Apart from visiting a few key departments like coke ovens, blast furnance, steel melting shop and wire rod mills, the team also paid a visit to the award gallery and moderal room. They also held discussions with key officers in various departments like material management, human resources, training and industrial relations, he added.
