Sivaji fans condemn TNCC
Chennai, Oct 5 (UNI) Fans of late thespian Sivaji Ganesan have condemned the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) for having failed to pay respects to the actor on his 79th birth anniversary on October one.
Sivaji Ganesan worked for nearly 30 years for the growth of Congress in Tamil Nadu and his fans were still toiling for the party. However unfortunately, the TNCC had chosen to boycott the celebrations of Sivaji's birth anniversary, Sivaji Social Welfare Forum said in a statement here.
Stating that Sivaji's birthday was being celebrated by Tamils across the globe, the Forum said it had been a practice to pay floral tributes to the portrait of Sivaji at TNCC headquarters 'Satyamurthy Bhavan' on his birth and death anniversaries every year.
Though former TNCC Presidents E V K S Elangovan and G K Vasan had followed the practice, the incumbent M Krishnasamy had betrayed Sivaji fans by not organising the celebration this year, the Forum charged.
Though Sivaji was associated with the DMK for only a brief period, DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had honoured him by placing his portrait in his party office. It was shame that the Congress, which was duti-bound to recognise the sacrifices of Sivaji, had not kept the actor's portrait in Satyamurthy Bhavan, it said.
If Mr Krishnasamy failed to take steps to keep Sivaji's portrait permanently in the Congress office, the fans would do it themselves, the forum warned.
