Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) Simbhaoli Sugar Mills Ltd today announced the commissioning of its new Ethanol plant at Chilwaria in the district Bahraich of Uttar Pradesh.

Announcing this to BSE, the company said the molasses based ethanol manufacturing plant with an installed capacity of 60 KL/D has been set up adjacent to the Company's chilwaria sugar plant. The project was completed at a cost of over Rs 25 crore in a record time of 9 months.

''Simbhaoli has become one of the largest producers of Ethanol today.

We envisage higher revenues from our Ethanol business as Simbhaoli is poised to benefit from Government of India's ethanol blended petrol (EBP) programme and also because of its proximity to key markets of Delhi, UP and Haryana'', says Mr G S Mann, Chairman&Managing Director of the Company.

This is in accordance with the green fuel initiative taken by the Central Government for reducing dependence on imported and scarce petroleum products.

With the commissioning of Chilwaria facility, the Company's total ethanol production capacity is now 150 KL/D, which the Company plans to scale up to 180 KL/D with the opening of Brijnathpur facility in March 2007.

The Company is already supplying 11 million liters of Ethanol to oil majors such as Indian Oil&BPCL in the states of UP&Haryana.

The diversification towards ethanol is part of Rs 404 crore growth plan chalked out by the Company which will be concluded by March 2007.
