Sharp-shooter is SP candidate in local bodies polls

Varanasi, Oct 5 (UNI) Mafia don Munna Bajrangi's sharp shooter Babu Yadav today filed nomination papers for the post of municipal corporator here today as a ruling Samajwadi Party candidate.

Lodged in the neighbouring Ghazipur district jail, Yadav was brought to Varanasi Nagar Nigam (VNN) zonal office in Durgakund area here this afternoon under heavy security, where he filed papers for the post of municipal corporator for Bagh Hara ward.

The underworld sharp-shooter, involved in 18 cases of loot, murder and extortion is an aide to Bajrangi, one of the prime accused in November 29, 2005 BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai murder case.

A Rs five lakh reward has been declared on the head of Bajrangi, who is absconding.

Talking to newspersons after filing his papers, Yadav said he has been falsely implicated in criminal cases. ''I am neither a murderer nor an extortionist. I am only a public worker, who if elected corporator will take the Gandhigiri route to public cause.'' The voting for electing municipal coroporators and mayor of Varanasi will take place on October 31.
