SanDisk launches its India operations
Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) California based SanDisk Corporation today announced distribution rights with Ingram Micro, largest wholesaler of technology goods and Rashi Peripherals, the world's largest IT distributors to sell SanDisk products throughout the country.
On the occasion, Sanjay Mehrotra, President&Chief operating Officer of the firm, added that plans are to start 2,000 stores in the coming weeks and increase to 14,000-plus by the end of 2007.
He said that SanDisk intends to launch its products, such as MP3 players, mobile phone cards, USB flash drives and high-perfomance digital imaging cards concentrating intially in 12 cities.
Mehrotra drew attention that the company started its India operations with the opening of a flash memory design center in Bangalore earlier this year, which is also a Resaerch&Development facility.
As a result, consumers in India will have acess to value-priced blue label memory cards as well as high performance SanDisk II cards for photography and mobile phones and high capaaity high speed SanDisk III cards for proffesionals.
Gavin Wu, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, said that revenue on SanDisks products in Asia alone has increased from 16 per cent in 2004 to 20 per cent in 2005.
He pinpointed that the products of the company are a result of extensive research done at its facilities in California, Japan and Isreal under the watchful eyes of the best engineers from around the world.
Manisha Sood, Country Manager for India added that the company emphasises long term commitment to India and plans to expand its operations to Tier II and Tier III cities.
