Rs 50 lakh additional drought relief for Gulbarga
Gulbarga, Oct 5 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will soon release Rs 50 lakh as additional amount towards drought relief for this district, Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar said today.
Addressing a review meeting here, he informed that cash crop in the district was withering due to scanty rainfall. Compensation for crop loss would be disbursed soon, he added.
He said 106 villages had been facing acute drinking water scarcity and Rs one crore was required to solve the problem.
Mr Shettar said permanent relocation of ten flood-hit villages would be carried out soon and Rs 52 lakh would be released for land acquisition for the purpose.
Directing the Government machinery to effectively implement the employment guarantee scheme to plug migration of labourers, he asked Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey to take steps to purchase fodder from neighbouring States.
