Police claim to have arrested main accused in Ashram attack case
Anand, Oct 5 (UNI) The Local Crime Branch police have arrested one more person in the Swami Sachidananda ashram attack case, taking the total number of arrests in the case to six.
Police claimed that Ramsur alias Ramsinh Meda who was arrested from his house here last night, could be one of the main masterminds behind the attack. Police had got a tip-off that Ramsur would be coming home last night and had laid a trap.
A group of unidentified miscreants had barged into the religious guru's ashram at Dantali village, about 25 km from Anand town, in the wee hours on July 17 last and had created a ruckus, attacking the ashramites. The Swami had opened fire from his revolver in self defence. Four persons, including three disciples of the Sachidanand Ashram, were injured.
The five arrested earlier are Ramesh Damor, Rajesh Tichariya, Vinu Lakshman, Shanker and Dhirubhai. A member of the gang, Babu Malana, had died on July 19 after being hit by a bullet from the Swami's revolver.
