Police arrest seven persons, recover gold

Vijayawada, Oct 5 (UNI) The city police today arrested seven persons, two for committing burgalaries in the city and the rest for assisting them, and recovered 60 tulas of gold ornaments, an auto, one colour Television set, one DVD player and home theatre boxes amounting to Rs six lakh from them.

Addressing a press conference here, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) M Satyanarayana Rao said a police team led by Circle Inspector Ch Lakshmipathy arrested Hussain Khan alias Nagur Hussain and P Anand alias Anand Babu alias Youhana at a bus stand yesterday.

The modus operandi of the duo was to break the locks of the houses during the day and night time and escape with the booty.

The ACP said on the information divulged by the two accused, police held three more persons belonging to Nagur Hussain's family and two receivers who acted as brokers for purchasing and selling the gold ornaments, he added.
