Pinjore Heritage Festival gets under way

Chandigarh, Oct 5 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai today inaugurated the prestigious Pinjore Heritage Festival at Pinjore Gardens at Panchkula near here, projecting the ancient heritage of the Pinjore town showcasing the grandeur of its gardens.

The Governor was received by Haryana Minister of State for Tourism Kiran Choudhry amid the finest traditions of the Mughal darbar and greeted in a very traditional Mughal style. The gardens wore a look of a Mughal Mahal with the artifacts and illuminations.

He viewed the items of the Mughal era displayed in an attractive manner in the Shish Mahal.

The Governor also went around the Anarkali and Meena Bazaars set up especially for this heritage festival. He took keen interest in the handicraft items displayed in the bazaars by people from the states of Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh and Union Territory Chandigarh.

The items displayed in the bazaars included traditional handicrafts, clothes and apparels, Punjabi juttis, kites, wooden artefacts and fancy items.

Chefs from various states of the country would offer lip-smacking Mughlai delicacies to the visitors during the festival time.

An amphi-theatre and tented pavilions had been set up in the gardens for cultural performances. The architectural, aesthetic and landscapic splendour of the gardens had been highlighted.
