One stabbed to death in police lock-up

Motihari, Oct 5 (UNI) One person was stabbed to death and another sustained serious injuries in a clash between two rival groups in the police lock-up at East Champaran district.

District police superintendent Sunil Kumar Jha said here today three people were taken into custody here last night following fights over land dispute.

The trio picked up a fight inside the police lock-up also and one of them stabbed his rival to death while the other detainee was seriously injured, he added.

Meanwhile, anguished over the incident, the villagers gheraoed the police station.

'' We had to use force to disperse them and a few were taken into the custody,'' Mr Jha said.
