Mother-daughter die, son rescued

Rajkot, Oct 5: A 30-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a river along with her two children at Dhoraji in the district today.

According to police, the deceased Vijuben Govindbhai, first allegedly thrown her son and daughter --Dhiren (10) and Hetal (8) -- into the river and later jumped herself.

Nearby people who saw the incident, one of them jumped into the river to try to save them.

However, they could save the life of the boy but could not save the mother and daughter.

Later, bodies of two were fished out from the river and sent for postmortem, the police said.

The cause of the suicide was not immediately known, the police said.
