Education has improved in past 4 years:Lalthangliana

Aizawl, Oct 05: Mizoram education minister R Lalthangliana has claimed that his department has improved the state's educational sector in the past four years.

Highlighting the achievements of the education department Mr Lalthangliana said about 213 schools, voluntarily set up by local people in rural areas, have been upgraded to government aided schools.

''With Rs 3200 lakh received under the non-lapsable central pool fun, about 1700 schools have been either repaired or constructed,'' he added.

Atleast 100 middle schools have been equipped with ten computers and one television set and a number of primary schools have been constructed under the Sarva Siksha Adhyan, the minister said.

Mr Lalthangliana also underlined that the district education offices and SDE offices have been established in all the districts while mini-telescopic diets in the five other districts would be opened shortly.

He also mentioned that Rs 15 crore had been received under the PMGY.

''The centre has sanctioned for 500 hindi teacher posts for primary schools while another 687 posts for the same would be sanctioned in the next fiscal,'' he said.
