Duo forge figures to dupe bank of Rs 21.81 lakh

Jamnagar, Oct 5 (UNI) Two persons, in connivance with a bank official, have allegedly cheated the Central Bank of India of Rs 21.81 lakh, by forging documents.

One Indrasinh, who had recieved three LIC dividend warrants worth Rs 1,269 each, had deposited them in his friend Salim Akbar's account with the UTI bank, changing the figures in such a manner, that they totalled upto Rs 21.81 lakh. The Central Bank had cleared the amount, which the duo withdrew from ATMs at various places.

Chief Manager of Central bank has lodged a complaint with the police. He has also charged a 'responsible' officer of the UTI bank with being a party to the crime.
