Dasara jumbos return to forest
Mysore, Oct 5 (UNI) The elephants, which took part in the famous Mysore Dasara procession, today embarked on their return journey to the forests along with the mahouts and their families from the palace premises here, after discharging its duty.
The 12 pachyderms, led by 'Balarama' which carried the golden howdah in the procession, were seen off by the forest officials after offering prayers. The elephants, which had arrived in the city in two batches, were on their way to Murkal in Nagarhole national forest and Sunkadakatte camps.
The tent school, provided for the children of mahouts during their stay in Mysore, was closed yesterday.
The special school, set up by the office of Block Education Officer (South Zone) in association with the Government Primary School, functioned for 17 days and was attended by 32 children.
Based on the school's academic activities, an examination was conducted and certificates of merit were issued to them.
